Purchase a Green Ticket and Help Our Festival Offset Your Travel Emissions!

Our Festival is 100% carbon neutral! Thanks to our partners Green Mountain Energy Company, we have offset the emissions associated with the production of Telluride Blues & Brews Festival.  Special thanks to EcoAction Partners, who also helps coordinate our waste reduction efforts and the associated carbon footprint reduction through composting and recycling efforts at our festival and for the Town of Telluride.

As a Blues & Brews fan you can help our waste reduction efforts too! Purchase a Green Mountain Energy® Green Ticket today to reduce the environmental impact of your attendance to the festival. Your purchase helps offset a portion of the CO2 emissions created by your travel to Telluride Blues & Brews Festival by supporting carbon offset projects that help take action against global climate change.

By purchasing the $3.00 Green Ticket, fans offset the equivalent of 220 pounds of CO2. That’s like not driving a car 245 miles, recycling 550 aluminum cans, or planting 13 trees. To date, Blues & Brews attendees have purchased over 2,500 Green Tickets and still counting!

It’s simple. Everyday routines like driving our cars, powering our homes, and traveling to music festivals create CO2 emissions. The more CO2 we produce, the hotter the Earth becomes and not in a good way. Telluride Blues and Brew’s commitment over the past 3 years, to track and offset the events carbon footprint, along with offering event goers an easy way to offset their own emissions, has helped to offset approximately 321 metric tons of CO2! This has the same environmental impact as taking approximately 550 houses turning their lights off for one year, or the amount of CO2 absorbed in a year by over 42,000 trees.

All carbon offsets purchased from Telluride will be sourced from Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) or Climate Action Reserve (CAR) projects across the United States. The project is third party certified, which means the offsets are real, permanent, additional, and verifiable.

Be sure to stop by our Green Tent and visit the crew from EcoAction Partners where you can learn what the local community and Blues & Brews is doing to enhance sustainability efforts, like seeing what happens to your compostable products from this festival and even get your cell phone charged from the sun!

In early 2009, 1% for the Planet realized that in order for them to build consumer awareness and touch business leaders in new realms, they would need to create a parallel 1% model to complement and build their business network. This new business model would incorporate Media Partners, such as us, Telluride Blues & Brews, to commit at least 1% of their advertising to sharing 1% for the Planet with their audiences.

As a 1% Media Partner, we hope you'll help us build the 1% movement together. For more information and to learn how your business community can take part please visit onepercerntfortheplanet.org.

The Official 2012 Telluride Blues & Brews Festival Poster

Lennie Jones is our featured poster artist for 2012. With a background in music, Lennie began playing professionally in 1965, and in the late 60's his band was pursued by none other than Frank Zappa who wanted to sign them to his record label. Opening for the original Canned Heat, shakin’ hands with Muddy Waters, Bill Monroe, Bill Graham, seein’ the immortal Jimmy Reed and giggin’ for Zappa further solidified his love of playing, hearing and living the Blues. Lennie's music career later morphed into the art world as a painter of the Blues.

Lennie Jones
We commissioned Lennie to put his distinct Blues spin on the 2012 Telluride Blues & Brews Commemorative Poster continuing our Blues focus poster tradition we have held close for so many years. Renowned for his large-scale, hand-painted Blues focused images, and his primitive style leads some to categorize his artwork as "outsider art," a term attributed to French artist Jean Dubuffet, who coined the phrase Art Brut to describe art that is raw and pure, without the countless layers of training and cultural sophistication that afflicts most mainstream art.

Lennie describes himself in this very fashion saying, "I am an outsider artist, a primitive self-taught painter of the holistic Blues experience." He goes on to describe himself further, "I have thrived in the mysterious and primitive wilderness, very happy, healthy, and blessed with a timeless source of spiritual inspiration to my art, heart and soul...An’ the music never left me."

Returning to the Festival for his third year as our poster artist, Lennie Jones presents to you, Blues Burn. Posters will be available for purchase in the Merchandise Tent during the festival and Lennie will be in person for poster signing daily at 2pm.

Telluride Blues & Brews Kicks off the Weekend with Little Hurricane for the Bal de Maison

The 19th Annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival is proud to announce San Diego Blues/Rock duo Little Hurricane for the Bal de Maison, a special weekend opening performance at the Historic Sheridan Opera House on Thursday, September 13th at 9:00pm. Limited tickets for the Bal de Maison are $20.00 and are currently onsale now at tellurideblues.com or by phone at (866) 515-6166.

Little HurricaneLittle Hurricane is currently touring the country in support of their debut album, Homewrecker, a hard-hitting sounding album that spins their timeworn dirty blues with a formula of comforting familiarity with originality. That is the one musical accolade that sticks out about this album, their originality and consistency throughout the album. Each album track blends their unique sound with the next and leaves you wanting more! The album is packed with raw, dirty blues spun with indie rock influences, great lyrics and a sound that will be unforgotten.

Little Hurricane embeds soulful verses and harmonized vocals, blending a synergic approach to finding the thread between the electric soul of Chicago blues and the raw grit of West Coast indie rock. Fronted by Anthony “Tone” Catalano on guitar, and backed by Celeste “CC” Spina on drums, the two young multi-instrumentalists have been making waves with their tension-building song structures embedded in six string distortion, heavy percussion, and tragically honest lyrical content.

As I Live Music blogger, Adam E. Smith put it, “this dynamic chemistry has afforded them the chance to take their deep blues tales to the frontlines of festivals with spots at Lollapalooza, South By Southwest, and Austin City Limits.” Making it a habit to stun audiences around the country, the buzzing live performance whirlwind is nothing short of impressive for a Southern California band that met via Craigslist and released their debut album Homewrecker in April of last year.

All festival passes are currently onsale now. Saturday and Sunday passes are $65 with Friday passes fetching just $55. Three-Day passes run $170, Juke Joint passes are $25 per night, and feature late night jams at various intimate venues. Festival 4-day camping passes are $40 per person, with camping located adjacent to the Festival grounds starting Thursday, September 13.

For festival information or to purchase tickets visit us online at tellurideblues.com. To purchase tickets by phone call toll-free at (866) 515-6166. Tickets available locally at both Telluride Music, located at 123 E. Colorado Ave and Wizard Entertainment, located at 126 East Colorado Avenue.

Phil Lesh & Friends, Gov’t Mule and the B-52s Headline Telluride Blues & Brews

The 19th Annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival proudly announced the initial 2012 lineup today. Phil Lesh & Friends, Gov’t Mule, and the B-52s headline the September Festival weekend, with additional festival appearances by Chris Robinson Brotherhood, MarchFourth Marching Band, Tab Benoit, Little Hurricane and The Lee Boys, with more acts to be announced in May. Tickets for the 19th Annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, held September 14-16, 2012, are on sale now.

“We are extremely excited with the lineup this year in Telluride,” said Steve Gumble, Festival Director. “Phil Lesh, Gov’t Mule and the B-52’s are sure to give stellar performances – the festival weekend boasts amazing and legendary musical talent with much more to come!”

Those looking for the inspiration of the current jam band movement need look no further than Phil Lesh. A founding member of the venerable American musical institution, the Grateful Dead, Lesh has continued to inspire while pushing the envelope with his highly evolved musical performances. His performance in Telluride this fall is one of the most anticipated in the festivals 19 year history.

For guitarist/lead vocalist Warren Haynes and his band, Gov't Mule, creating a new album is akin to walking a tightrope: they write new songs that please old fans, while hopefully garnering new ones. It's not a surprise their coined one of the hardest working bands in rock history...

It is well known that the B-52s are the World’s Greatest Party Band. And thirty years and over twenty million albums into their career, The B-52s remain among the most beloved rock stars ever. Their performance in Telluride Town Park will be one not to miss, as they serve up their unique blend of music with their combination of  rock’n’roll, funk and retro-hip music.

Renowned as one of the most scenic and intimate music festivals in the country, Telluride Blues & Brews takes place in the world-famous resort town of Telluride, Colorado, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains 13,000-foot mountain peaks. The Blues & Brews three-day celebration offers an eclectic mix of live blues, funk, jam bands, rock, gospel and soul performances - accompanied by some of the best microbreweries in the country. Food and craft vendors, children's activities and late night juke joint shows are also featured.

Tickets for 3-Day passes, Juke Joint passes, and Camping passes are on sale now. Single day tickets go on Sale June 15th. 3-Day passes are $170.00.
